They then focus on workflow integration. AI is embedded directly into operational processes, influencing decisions at the point of decision-making. Evidence shows that only a small minority of organizations achieve sustained value without this level of integration.

Next, they address data readiness. With 81% of AI professionals reporting data quality challenges, this step cannot be overlooked.

Finally, they define the human-AI operating model. Clear roles and responsibilities ensure that decisions are trusted, understood, and acted upon.

When these elements are in place, AI transitions from a technical capability to an operational asset.

A Clear Path Forward

The gap between AI ambition and execution is well documented. However, it is not irreversible.

Organizations that succeed make a deliberate shift. They move from broad strategies to focused portfolios of high-value use cases. They move from experimentation to integration. They move from model-centric thinking to workflow-centric design.

Each of these shifts reinforces the same principle. AI creates value only when it is embedded into how work is performed.
